Hi this is Kayla. I'm going to teach you how to subtract whole numbers and decimals. It's very easy after you follow these steps.

Here are some tips that can help you.

1.Line up your decimals by place value or at the decimal point.

2.Subtract after filling any empty spaces with zeros then drop the decimal.

 Here's  an example:

                           466.789

                                      - 351.634

_____________        Hope that helped you subtract decimals

                           115.155

See how easy that was!

Hey I'm Rachel and I'm going to give you a few tips on subtracting whole numbers and decimals.

1.line up decimals if your subtracting decimals and for whole numbers line up the greater number on the top.

Here's an expamle for both.

decimals

  987.362                         987,362

- 245.151                       - 245,151

_________                     ________

  742.211                          742,211

After you've lined up your decimals and filled in the empty spaces with zeros, you can find your answer and you might find it easier.

Also, it might help if you line it up on loose leaf paper or in a notebook.

Also, make sure the biggest number is on top, if it isn't you might have a problem.

         Here's an example:

If the smaller number is on top, you won't be able to subtract.

                                          For example:

                                                                789

                                                             9,356

                                                            ---------

                                                                 433

You can't subtract nine from zero , but if you put the biggest number on top, you will

                                                         be able to subtract.

                                                        For example:

                                                                                                                     9,356

                                                                                                                        789

                                                                                                                    ---------

Now you are able to subtract, because you put the biggest number on top.

Hi this is Sadie and I am going to help you subract. That's a fact.

Step 1: Line up your decimals like this because if you don't line up your decimals you will get the wrong answer.

                              453.333                        453.333

                                        -    453.524      <Wrong    -453.524          <Right

                                           ------------                    ------------

Step2:Fill in any blank spots with zeros you might find it easier.

                                 123. 56                  123.056

                                -3 8.456    <Wrong -308.456        <Right

                                ------------              ------------

Step3: Subtract

823.456      Now it is as simple as 6-5 is 1

                         -823.315      5-1 is 4   4-3 is 1    Don't forget to carry

------------    your decimal now, and always start from the right side.3-3 is 0 and 2-

2 is 0 and 8-8 is 0 so 000.341 is your answer. I hope you know how

                                           do subract decimals now.
